If you didn't have a chance to see my workout with the strength coach of the Houston TEXANS.. check it out on myfoxaustin.com and click on the health tab. You will see i learned a very valuable lesson: change up my workout. That workout was sooo hard for me for a few reasons.. but the key reason is because i was on vacation and had company in town the few weeks before it so i was just doing my regular workout just to get some exercise in... but it wasn't one of those push myself til i'm exhausted workouts. I did my regular boring 5 mile runs and didn't really challenge myself. You can't do that if you want results or want to stay ahead. Once Coach Ray Wright started pushing my limits and raising my heart rate i thought i was going to pass out! Since then.. i have been doing sprints and pushing myself and my limits at least 2 times a week then other days i do my regular run and push myself on my weights. It has made a huge difference. Some mornings i will sprint a minute and then walk a minute.. for a 4 mile run. I feel so much better when i finish then just keeping a regular pace and i feel chanllenged. Give it a shot!
There really is no better time to eat right. With fears of the swine flu why not do whatever you can to boost your immune system. You have heard experts say wash your hands but do you know eating healthly foods like fruits and veggies and cutting out processed foods can actually boost your immune system? So maybe cut out the fast food.. grill some fish and chicken for yourself and your family. grill some veggies and start substituting sugar with natural sweetener agave. These are gradual steps that can make a hugh difference and boost your immune system. Taking care of your body is key each and every day but these days it can really really pay off.
I am having so much fun in my journey for better health. Many of you have heard me say.. what matters most to me is health, fitness and autism. My father has had 2 heart attacks and i refuse to let it happen again and my 4 year old niece is Autistic. Autism is something that really really tugs at my heart. But I am am true believe God puts these challenges in our path so we can learn from them and i am having fun along the way. I am meeting so many people who are also working to make their lives more balanced and healthier. As I learn new things.. i will share and i hope you do the same.
