Lindsay Field - Introduction

Lindsay Field is a local glass jewelry artist here in Austin, with a company called Lindsay Designs.  Lindsay grew up partly in Albuquerque, NM and then spent the majority of her adolescence in the Dallas area, graduating from Newman Smith H.S. in 1999.  Lindsay then moved to Austin and graduated from The University of Texas at Austin in 2003 with a B.S. in Advertising.  Lindsay currently resides in Austin with her boyfriend of seven years and their dog, Skylos. 

While still in school, Lindsay began making jewelry as a hobby that shortly developed into much more.  Lindsay has always been fascinated with glass and when she discovered that she could make her own glass beads* to use in her jewelry, she was hooked!  Not long after learning how to make glass beads, she learned the art of fusing glass* and was hooked, once again!  Her glass creations have become a reflection of her love of patterns, color, and modern designs.  Over the last several years, Lindsay has worked at two different glass studios that have broadened her knowledge of glass and have exposed her to new capabilities.  She now spends the majority of her time getting to be creative and work with glass on a regular basis.  Much of the rest of the time she peddles her work to a number of different stores and shows throughout the Hill Country.

*The Lampwork glass beads she makes are created one-at-a-time by shaping and manipulating molten glass in a flame.  This process consists of layering glass on top of glass to create unique designs and effects.

**Lindsay also creates fused pieces of glass.  This type of glasswork is made from compatible sheets of glass that are cut, stacked into layers creating unique designs & are then placed in a kiln and heated up to 1450° where they fuse together and become one piece.
